FAQ

Frequently asked

The work & technique
Who is Jasenko Đorđević?
Self-taught sculptor from Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, working under the name TOLDart. He carves figurative scenes by hand into the graphite core of a pencil — work exhibited internationally and recognised with several awards.
What is pencil micro-sculpture?
Each piece is carved directly into the 5 mm graphite core of a pencil, using the lead itself as the medium. The result is a freestanding sculpture only millimetres in size.
How are the sculptures made?
Entirely by hand, under magnification, using fine blades and custom-ground tools. Work proceeds slowly to manage the constant risk of breakage in the graphite.
How long does one piece take?
From several hours to several weeks, depending on complexity. Commissions typically run two weeks to two months.
What drives the work?
An interest in scale, patience, and what endures in something as fragile as graphite — turning an everyday object into a deliberate one.
Commissions & acquisition
How do I commission a piece?
Send your idea through the contact form above — theme, rough size, any specific elements. You'll receive a quote and an estimated timeline before anything begins.
How does pricing work?
Each commission is quoted privately. As a rule, a 50% advance is required before carving begins unless agreed otherwise; the balance is due on completion, before shipping.
How is the work shipped?
Internationally via DHL. Shipping is quoted per client, since rates vary by destination and current fuel and logistics conditions — an exact cost is confirmed against your address before dispatch. Allow 2–7 business days for delivery, plus 7–10 days to secure export documents. Customs duties are the buyer's responsibility.
Is each piece unique, and how is it cared for?
Every sculpture is one of a kind, signed directly on the work (usually “TOLD”) and shipped with a certificate of authenticity. Graphite is stable under normal conditions but remains fragile — keep the piece in a display case, away from impact and pressure.
